To learn more about the timeline you should be following as your lease comes to an end, keep reading below!
90 Days: Begin Researching Your Lease-End Options
Before you get into the inspections and making sure you have the original equipment for your Silverado for the return, it's important that you take this time that you have and start to consider what you should do next. This may seem like an overwhelming decision to make, but you don't have to decide right now! You'll simply want to begin thinking about what happens in 3 months. You'll want to consider:
- Returning your Silverado
- Leasing/financing a new vehicle
- Purchasing your Silverado
These three options are as simple as that, just decisions you can make that you know will be better for every aspect of your life. If you are interested in a new lease or financing a vehicle with us, our team can begin helping you through this process to make sure that the transition between your current lease and the next one is smooth, without any bumps along the way. Remember, you're just getting started, so don't feel overwhelmed!
60 Days: Schedule a Complimentary Pre-Return Inspection
Something we always recommend our customers take advantage of is the pre-return inspection, which is completely complimentary when you lease a Chevy model. This is optional, but we find it incredibly helpful, especially for recognizing wear and tear. You can schedule a pre-return inspection right here at Victory Chevrolet, where our certified technicians will work hard to identify any issues and make you aware of them as soon as possible. We'll be looking at things like dings, dents, permanent stains on the interior, rips to the upholstery, cracked glass, mismatched tires, mechanical defects, worn-down tires, and any instrument panel warnings. When you have enough time after this kind of inspection, you can have things fixed to avoid any extra charges that would otherwise be inflicted upon you at the end of your lease.
30 Days: Should I Be Making My Final Decision?
Yes! By the time you're only a month out from the final appointment that you have scheduled for turn-in, you should have decided what kind of steps you want to take next. It's important to note that you actually have the ability to purchase your leased Silverado at any point during your lease, so if that's your decision, we can get started on the paperwork for that immediately. If you intend on simply returning your truck and moving on, then you don't have to worry about any other major decisions right now. Finally, if you want to lease or finance a new Silverado at our dealership, it's time to finalize the exact model you want to drive home in so we here at Victory Chevrolet can offer you a smooth transition once the day arrives. You only have a month left!
Turn-in Day: Go Through the Pre-Return Checklist
The day is officially here! This is the perfect time for you to mind the checklist of things to make sure you remember to bring, and remember to take out of your Silverado, too. As far as things you want to remove from your leased vehicle, those things include:
- Wiping personal data from the systems
- Sunglasses
- Parking passes
- Tollway tags
- Garage door openers
- Phone Chargers
But that's not all! We also want to make sure you remember to include everything that was originally given to you with the lease package itself. Sometimes those items are moved around, and you must have everything together before the final turn-in. A few of these items could include:
- Luggage crossbars
- Entertainment system headphones
- Toolkits
- Cargo covers
- Floor mats
- Spare tires
